A Poem for Freedom

Freedom is what freedom does.

Freedom does what freedom says.

Freedom preaches, as tears pour.

Freedom feels like open wounds and bloody sores.

Freedom screams from its throat .

Freedom marches, freedom votes.

Freedom throws hands, and freedom revokes

Privileges when freedom is denied to everyday folk.

Freedom be for all

Or freedom be for none.

Freedom rises and sets on everyone.

This day shall pass

The oppression shall too.

Freedom come

You’re overdue.

“Are you my mother?”

Birthing Freedom

Not a nation

That denies freedom

To its nation

Black wombs

Birthed

It

Carried

it

Fed

it

Through lactation

Then was denied the rights

to the nation

A bastard child

The nation is

A motherless

Child

Raised with fear

250 years of

No taming

250 years of no home training

This place be the home of the motherless child, Praises to the forefathers they all sing aloud.
